Sustainability of the operation of Gránit Bank

Ecological footprint
In 2023, the Bank’s ecological footprint was negligible:
- 25 thousand tons of CO2 emissions were avoided.
- 16.9 million sheets of A4 paper were saved.
- 11,000 trees were saved.
- Every year, employees participate in the community planting of hundreds of saplings together with the 10 Millió Fa Alapítvány (10 Million Trees Foundation).

Ecological mindset
The Bank promotes an ecological mindset among its customers and the youth:
- Through the Eco Calculator, customers have planted 4,000 trees.
- 100% of the credit and debit cards are made of environmentally friendly materials.
- In cooperation with the Iskolakertekért Alapítvány (School Gardens Foundation), the Bank supported a tender procedure aimed at designing the school garden of the future.

Carbon neutral operations
Gránit Bank operates in a carbon-neutral way:
- Since 2020, it has been neutralising its Scope 1 (direct) emissions and Scope 2 (indirect) CO2 emissions with the help of Gold Standard certified credits linked to afforestation projects.
- In 2023, the Bank purchased credits through the Nicaforest reforestation program, which contributes to the protection of indigenous vegetation in an area of 490 hectares.

Social responsibility

Based on its corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, in 2023 Gránit Bank supported the improvement of quality of life and social inclusion for a wide range of people.

Donation
The Ökumenikus Segélyszervezet (Hungarian Interchurch Aid) is a strategic partner of Gránit Bank. Within the framework of this cooperation, the Bank supports the needy with donations, and through the donations of its employees, the programs of the Kaposvár-based Biztos Kezdet Gyermekház (Safe Beginnings Children’s House).

Sponsoring sports and arts
Under a multi-year framework agreement, Gránit Bank sponsors the athletes and spectator sport events organised by the Hungarian Canoe Federation and is a key sponsor of the Hungarian Water Polo Federation.

For over 10 years, the Bank has been the principal sponsor of the outstanding exhibitions of the Museum of Fine Arts, and it also supports the careers of talented young artists. For instance, the exhibitions of painter Karolina Sávolt were realised with the help of the Bank.

Developing financial literacy
The Bank cooperates with educational institutions to help promote financial literacy among the youth from primary schools to universities. Financial literacy is also developed through strategic agreements with the University of Szeged, the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church, the Eszterházy Károly Catholic University, the University of Miskolc, the Ludovika University of Public Service, the Széchenyi István University, and the University of Óbuda.
